T.G. Fruits is a family-run greengrocer wholesaler who supply a wide range of seasonal produce to the food service sector in Brighton and the surrounding areas. They work closely with local farmers to supply fresh fruit and veg - some is cut or picked the same day.

What was the challenge?
TG Fruits wanted to switch to electric forklift trucks for cleanliness while still retaining same capabilities and operate in all weathers.
Why this product(s)?
The compact-yet-powerful EDiA EM electric forklift has IPx4-rated parts, and the cabin modifications made it suitable for year-round outdoor work.
What was the outcome?
Moved the fleet to electric, meaning it's more environmentally friendly and the drivers are happier.
The green alternative
Working with fresh fruit and veg, the company were after a cleaner alternative to IC engine forklift trucks. They needed trucks that could work in all weathers and deliver the performance they had become used to from the IC trucks in a more environmentally conscious way.
There is a definitive movement towards electric trucks. They produce less noise and pollution, are fume-free, more economical and are better for the environment.
All-weather performance
The work required trucks with a 1.5 tonne capacity - able to operate inside and outside - with the ability to handle boxed fruit and veg and the EDiA EM electric counterbalance forklift was the perfect solution. T.G. Fruits ordered 4 EDiA EMs with the modification of waterproof cabs for the drivers and the red Safety Zone lights.
Electric power is much cleaner and less expensive than LPG. Driver visibility is brilliant, and it's not hindered by a large gas bottle on the back. The EDiAs are brilliant in the environment we work in.
Safer and smarter
The electric truck delivers an all-weather performance in a cleaner, cost-effective way.
TG Fruits were one of the first to use Safety Zone in their warehouse. The system uses high-powered LEDs to create bold red lines on the floor behind and beside the truck. It provides an early warning to the operator and those around the area, giving them time to move out of the way of the approaching vehicle.
Our customers and staff think the safety lights are an excellent idea. Quite often we have wet conditions and long shifts and the lights are especially good at night.
